What Does the BOTOX Cosmetic Treatment Involve?
Your first BOTOX Cosmetic appointment will involve a personal consultation with Dr. Zemmel, who will assess your areas of concern and listen to your goals with treatment. In some cases, the treatment can begin during this same appointment. Once a treatment plan has been tailored to your needs, you are ready to begin your BOTOX injections.
Before receiving BOTOX Cosmetic, the target area will be numbed using an ice pack to help minimize any discomfort during treatment. Since we utilize tiny needles to administer the injections, patients report feeling little to no discomfort during their appointment. Dr. Zemmel will strategically place the BOTOX injections into your areas of concern, ensuring you achieve noticeable yet natural results. Most patients can benefit from about three to five BOTOX injections in each target area.
An entire BOTOX Cosmetic appointment with the consultation included takes about 30 minutes on average. You will be instructed to return for a follow-up appointment with Dr. Zemmel after two weeks to evaluate your results and make sure you are happy with your outcome. Though rare, if any touch-ups are needed, they can be performed at this time.
How Long Do BOTOX Injections Take to Work?
BOTOX Cosmetic usually takes one to two weeks to set in, but some improvement is typically seen before this. The injections cause the muscles in the area to gradually relax over time, leading to the smoother skin appearance. The full extent of your results should be noticeable at four to eight weeks after treatment. BOTOX Cosmetic results may slightly differ from patient to patient, but in most cases, the injectable’s anti-aging benefits last about three to six months, at which point a follow-up session can be scheduled.
What Are Common Side Effects of BOTOX Cosmetic?
Side effects from BOTOX Cosmetic are typically very mild, and more severe problems are very rare. Immediately after your appointment, you may notice some degree of redness at the injection site, but this tends to fade within 30 minutes of treatment. Some patients may have a small bruise where the injections were made, which can take about two to three days to go away.
How Much Do BOTOX Injections Cost?
The cost of BOTOX Cosmetic in Richmond is about $250 to $1000 per treatment area. At our practice, BOTOX injections are $13 per unit, so depending on the extent of your needs, you may need more or less units compared to someone else. During your initial consultation, our team can provide you with a cost quote to help you understand what to expect.
